Cry from the Deep

I do not feel ‘righteous’ 

though I cry out 

from this deep 

sadness within me 

that stirs me 

from sleep 

and I awake before morning 

I crawl out of bed 

temptations surround me. 

This is my dread 


And I know you are bigger,

so much bigger than me 

so why would you care? 

These are the thoughts 

that I need 

you to vanquish 

inside of me 


Because I’m struggling 

right now 

and I know you will save me 

I believe that somehow.


I will face my day 

I will bow my head 

and I will pray 

Please, Lord, 

show me the way
