You see me

When all I want to do is hide

You follow me about 

Always by my side

Even when my heart aches

From all the world has shown

You still stand beside me

Whispering

“Child, I know”


“Child, I know the problems

That bring you to your knees

I can feel the sadness

when it’s so tight

It’s hard to breathe”


“I remember

What’s it’s like to lose a friend

I know the sting of tears,

the hurt that never seems to end”


“But I also know 

That daylight comes 

from out of darkest night

I remember three days,

And then I saw the light”


“Child,

I am the light!”


I pause


I know you are always here, 

ready to rescue me

Today,

I just ask you

To help me to say goodbye 

and leave.


Give me all your peace.
