Voices Carry

Listen to the voices

That carry us along

Wise old men utter

A grandma’s lilting song

Take the wisdom they offer

They’ve been down this same old road

Circumstance may guide you

Let their voices show

Truth

Might sting like a honeybee

But the nectar it produces

Turns into sweet

The pain in an instant

Helps keep us on the path

And guards our feet

From the tangles

We find

Along the side of the road

Remember those voices

help show us

The way back home

Fill your lungs with kindness

Heart with deep felt joy

Hear their voices

Stop and tarry

For just a moment

Be still

And you will know

The next step

As you go

“Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days. Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand. What is desirable in a man is his kindness, And it is better to be a poor man than a liar.”

Proverbs‬ ‭19‬:‭20‬-‭22‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
