You Whisper

You whisper

“I am with you

I will lead you as you go”

I never understood

How you always 

seemed to know

What I needed

As I was stuck in my wants

Reminded me

Over and over again

“Rest in me 

I’ll lead you home”


So many decisions

I made on my own

Out of my fear,

Frustration

Not willing to listen

Or let you show


I found redemption

Yet I didn’t know how to live

Struggled to let go

And finally,

Truly give

My Hope to the maker

My soul open to your plan

Yes, I still stumble

Of course I do,

I’m a broken man


But peace has found purchase 

Where I used to hold onto fear

I can breathe deeper

Knowing I am not alone

You are always there


I can always find you near 

I pray

And often hear

Your voice in night sounds

Your breath on the wind

You open up the heavens

And light my path

As I begin


The walk toward your presence

Each step I try to be

Closer to your will

You continue to beckon me
