In Peace, as the storm subsides

Last drops of rain fall

Storm has passed

as I sit

Hear the stillness

As the night rises

and begins

To settle

into the rhythms of the dark

Just as in the aching

of my heart

The storm was violent,

crashing through the night

Now, as I sit

Think about the way it

echoes how our lives

are tossed and beaten

torn apart and left

To pick up the pieces

the storm reminds us

of how we’ve wept

But the storm will always pass,

troubles will fade and cease

It’s how we weather the moments

when all we want is a little peace

Holding on to salvation

Even as fear

beats us down

Rising our heads to heaven

This is where peace

is found

In the morning,

maybe a ray of sun

Or the clearness that comes inside

when our hearts surrender

and we’ve begun

To see

All that is bigger

That opens up our hearts

And lets us breathe.

In Peace.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

2 Corinthians 4:16–18
