Angels

The angels don’t cry

for the ones up in heaven,

they cry for the ones left behind

For the weary

For the downtrodden

For the ones they find

Sad

Without purpose

Or maybe grieving someone still

The angels come to comfort

Shining a little of God’s will

We think of choirs singing

But they also cradle the weak

They remind us

In their stirring

Of who makes us complete

The angels shout, victorious

They proclaim to those who seek

All the things, glorious

And remind us

We’re not complete

Until we stand among the presence

of the maker of this earth

United with those gone before us

Through the message of a birth

A life

A death

A resurrection

And a gift

Given to the earth.

Angels sing

As heartstrings

Find hope

Here in this world.
