Like a Songbird
When I am weary
Like a songbird
who’s lost their wings
You remind me
to look up,
open my lungs
and sing
And even as my body
feels it can’t take any more
You replace my longings
With new wings
On which to soar
Into the unknown
From darkest night
You lift up my spirit
And show me again
how to fly
Until I find the strength
As I’m lost with in the world
You remind me
How Heaven sings
Cheering me on…
“Just a little more…”
You await
like the sun shines at first light
And even when I’m sad, alone
You remind me
to keep my sight
On You.
And my spirit
knows the dark will end
You, my creator
My savior
My friend
Are always there.
