Speak - To Be A Man

You may feel lonely

So why don’t you speak?

You may feel the weight of the world (is)

Crashing at your feet

You may feel like a statue

Not able to break

But inside,

What toll does that take?

Maybe you were told to be silent

That it wasn’t like a man

To open up your feelings

And some of that, I understand

But when the world keeps pushing on you

And think you’ve got to walk alone

That’s where you’re wrong

There are others on the same road

To be a man

Doesn’t mean to be silent

Because I’m sure you’ve said some words

But what is the intention

When your voice is actually heard?

Do you know how to say I love you

And follow it with your choice

To take each and every moment

Trying to hear above the noise?

Because to be a man doesn’t mean to be quiet

Hell, you’ve yelled out loud

But maybe somewhere inside

You feel a little too proud?

Too proud to open up

Too proud to cry

Too proud to let someone know

As those tears form in your eyes

I get it, it’s hard

Maybe you feel like you’d be misunderstood

But I tell you,

I’d rather be there

Than truly alone

And wishing I could

Change the past

(You can’t)

Do it different

(Well, would you try?)

Open up your heart

And let them see you cry

Or just tell your truths

And lift your head up high

And speak

Out of a heart

Broken and redeemed

Humble and willing

To do ALL the things

To be a man.
