To be a man - version 2

Without asking

He’s standing there 

Knows when to listen

Knows when to hold


Wants to see the sunrise

Works real hard

But can stop and dream

And tell you about it


Knows that Jesus 

Wasn’t just a man

Might struggle with him

But understands


That life isn’t just working

And playing as hard

That each day breathing 

Might be the last


So Breathe in deep

Until its complete


Knows how to answer

The simplest question

And knows how to open up his soul

If he trusts you, 

he’ll give you his whole (heart)


Stands when it’s hard

Digs in when it’s right

But knows how to stop

And give up a fight


Cause it’s not worth it

In the end

Knows when to lay his burdens down

And where hope is found…


And prays

Knows how to laugh

Wipes away

Tears from his eyes

(Yeah he knows how to cry)


And when his life is over

Only wants one thing

To be known by another,

By friends and family


That he cared

And lived it all

As a man.

They called Him ‘teacher’ following from town to town  Others, the ‘king’  come to reign with a crown Some, 'healer', as he gave them  eyes to see  To me, ‘my savior’  shining his love down on me  But she called him ‘son’ Raised from the infant that pierced her womb She loved him before He was known to the world  She called him ‘son’ As her baby grew to a man Lost in the crowd In his father’s house finally found She followed closely As he began his great task She watched him love others She was there at the last  <breath> She stood in the shadows  Tears at the loss  Regardless of what was coming She stood at the cross Aware of his teachings She still remembered the babe That now hung dying She saw it all His birth, now the grave And she called him ‘son’ The king of kings The teacher The healer The one still her ‘son’. 05/11/25 clc “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”...

Wonder if her heart‘s  still in Mississippi? Whispering Pines go back in time Wonder if she’s missing?
