Rain Falls

Rain falls

Its cleansing,

Gentle rhythms

Pitter patter

As I try to surrender

To the night’s call

For rest

I’m ill at ease

Within I want release

Stirring

In my spirit

Aching in my bones

I try and try

To live this life

Without asking anyone

For help

And yet, I fail

Because

Tender moments

Like birdsong

Are washed away

As the rain

Cleanses the very earth

Will it take my pain?

Not anything new

Just the dull and restless ache

That comes when

My spirit

Loses its way

For just a moment

As I pray

And wait…
