One more sunrise

Dark clouds linger

Inside darker hearts

Not knowing how

To make them part


Outwardly everything seems okay 

But that’s how we hide 

When there’s so much hurting 

Going on inside 


We don’t want you to know 

That inside 

Fear and heartache grows 


To monumental proportions 

At least within our heads 

And most days 

Alive seems much harder than dead 


And yes, that’s a lie 

We tell ourselves 

But we don’t know any better 

Without the help 


That comes in a whisper 

That comes in a voice 

Maybe someone really cares 

And delays our choice 


Because we don’t want to be here 

We don’t want to keep this pain 

We just want it to go away 

Please, go away 


And until peace finds purchase 

Until hope becomes a thread 

You who surround us 

Keep us here, 

And out of our heads


So keep on caring

Even when it hurts

For though we struggle

We are still worth


More than we know

More than we want

As long as we’re here

Life will go on…
