“Be still”?

You say

“Be still”

And I sit here in the silence

Feeling alone

Wish the fucking quiet

Would bring peace

But it just allows my thoughts

To seethe 


I know hope

Doesn’t come

From a bottle

Or a person, those false prophets

The social norms

Or greedy pockets

But mine is spent

Trying to relent


Wish I could be

As solid as others seem

Just want a little relief…
