Immeasurably More

You are more than I can fathom

As my heart wakes with an ache

I am so small,

So insignificant

Body worn and spirit breaks

Clouds cover the horizon

I cannot see sunrise

Sometimes, in these moments

I just want to run and hide


I know you won’t let me

Though I will try

One step, then another

Even when I hate it,

You’re by my side


I’m worm and I’m weary

Feeling a little lost

And I try in my struggle

To remember the cost


You paid

Still don’t understand

But I rise

Reaching out my hand


To you
