Dispelling the Lies

Waiting in the shadows 

When we’re weak

They tell us lies

That eat at our humanity

Push us to question why


Why are we so small here?

And in truth we really are

But we’re not meant to dwell beyond

His presence, yet we fell


Into pride and worry binding 

Our very insides can’t seem to break

Away from what they sell us

That says - you’ll never be ok


And living there takes our spirit

Opens up our desperate need

For something greater

Yet they tell us

The world alone can fill please


Then we’re left empty 

From the hurt we thought would go away

Our ‘gods’ couldn’t save us

And we sink closer to the grave


Until we find

Peace

In our mind

From the only place

That can hold us 

Where our hope is truly found 


Takes time 

Even trusting the master 

As we’re still living among the lies

Looking up and calling out

‘Dear God, please help me find

You among the chaos

You among the lies

You, please allow us

To hear you as we cry”


And in the silence -

Seems he always waits until we stop

The still soft voice reminds us

He’s always here

We just have to drop

To our knees

Open our hearts

Let go of the hurts

And fall apart

Into his arms.
