Dull Reflection

See my reflection

In mirrored glass

The man who stands there

The one who has lasted

Through every trial and tribulation

Realizing beyond my gaze

Through the faith I cling to

One thing remains

Maybe not a God of my understanding

But the God who loves me so

Tender arms of mercy

Never letting go

When I look deeply into the eyes

Of the man who looks ahead

Through all the tears I’ve cried

I really should be dead

But he anointed my soul with singing

When I didn’t even have a voice

Gave me wings to fly

Then waited

To show me how close

I am to heaven

Even while still on earth

A word from him

A gentle nudge

Awakens my soul

Into his rebirth

And in that mirror

All that I see

Is just dull reflection

Of all he’s done for me
