Truly Fly

I have failed along my journey

If to succeed is to touch the sky

I don’t have wings to lift me

I wasn’t designed to fly

But what if in our center

That yearning for something more

Arises from within us

Hoping to one day soar

Closer to the heavens

Maybe see what the creator sees

As he looks down upon us

Each speck of sand, each growing tree

And in our vain ignorance

We forget why we were made

Not to soar above the mountains,

But to kneel down and give him praise

That’s the choice we’ve been granted

So when blue skies tempt our eyes

I hope that I’ll take a moment

And in him, truly fly
