The heart inside of me

Why do I forsake you

When you’ve given me so much?

The heart that beats inside my chest

Still remembers the touch

Of your spirit as I was sinking

Yet some days I’m so far away

From the memories of that moment

That’s when my heart seems to sway


I know I wouldn’t be here

Without the stillness that you bring

Regardless of my circumstance,

You would think my voice would sing

But I still live in sin

And some days feel so far away

I take it all for granted

As I walk the other way


I haven’t forgotten you

That I never do

But I’ve been born of flesh

And sometimes I just weep like dew


So please forgive me if I question (‘cause)

Maybe the questioning is when I see

That you don’t mind the questions

You just want the heart inside of me.
