No Matter

Do you see me?

Do you care?

In those moments when I want to fade away

Are you really there?

When the darkness

Falls across my face

Where are you God?

I feel so out of place

Inside my heart

Just want to run

And run and run and run

Off towards the sun

But that seems silly

When I’m sitting in shame

That’s the dichotomy inside my head

Keeps on rearranging

The truth

So I sit

And throw a good old-fashioned childish fit

Do you hear me wail?

Do you hear me scream?

Do you even have context at all?

In those moments, it truly seems

I’m alone

Licking my wounds

And for a moment, for 12,

That’s all I can do

So I ask you again

Are you there?

Creator of the universe,

Do you really care

For me?

In the stillness,

Once I’m done

Through my brokenness and self deceit

You answer…

“My son,

Yes”.

“I have been with you

since I formed you

And I am quite aware

of all that you feel

And if you fail

I don’t care,

I love you

And I always will!”
